A Review of Kontera Ads: What Niche Pulls in $ while others suck!
I ain’t gonna bore you with another review of Kontera contextual in-text ads. I’ll get to the meaty part of the story and my opinion ASAP. You don’t know what Kontera is then check out Kontera.com. This is another source to generate income on your website in addition to Adsense and CPA/CPL banners.
Now we got the intro out of the way. I want to emphasize on what niche performs well with Kontera ads.
Early this year, Joel Comm posted in DP forum about Kontera Ads. This post got tons of people signed up. I’m very glad to share with you that Kontera will accept just about any English related websites with some content. There isn’t a high requirements like Intellitext - minimum 500,000 impressions. Anyways, back to Joel Comm. Here is a recent thread (10/12/07) about Kontera Ads you should definitely check out here. Few people posted their Kontera stats on that thread including Joel Comm. I’m not going to repost their stats here, check it out yourself, and do pay attention to each person’s eCPM stats. You can see that one of Joel’s sites income outperforms another guy with much higher page impressions.
This concludes that website Niche is important to Kontera performance. Let me prove it some more. Check out Dealfday.com This is a hot deals forum owned by Joel Comm
Very nice site and runs all sorts of ads on this forum including Kontera ads. I bet you this is his best performing site with Kontera ads. I remember reading a while ago where Joel mentioned that one of his website earns $75-$100/day from Kontera. Plus, I could just tell with number of impressions + click through rate shown from his stats compared to dealsoftheday.com web traffic stats. I just put them together so it is my best guess…
Recent Examples:
Ades at Adesblog.com had Kontera ads running for 4 months, only earned him ~$103.94, post can be found here. This is a tech blog, I’m think tech readers are familiar with ads so unlikely to click on ads.
Look at John Chow’s monthly income report, he earns $1,000 month Kontera every month. Obviously this is a contract basis but if his kontera earnings were to go higher than $1,000/month, Kontera will honor the higher earnings amount (this hasn’t happen yet with John’s make money online blog). His blog gets ~180,000 visitors/330,000 impressions.
You can negotiate with Kontera to get paid by CPM versus pay per click or sign up with competition for higher payout?:
IntelliTXT - Vibrant Media
LinkInTxt - LinkWorth
In-Text Link - EchoTopic
My Conclusion:
I’ve read dozen Kontera reviews this year. I also seen many Kontera income stats of others and some are really good and some are not so good. I had it on this blog for a week, I removed because it wasn’t performing well. Majority of my blog’s visitors are used to seeing Kontera ads on other “make money online” blogs so they are not going to click it again. I’ll add Kontera ads to this blog down the road with more traffic.
I think tech and make money online niche are poor performance with Kontera. Info/how to websites, forums, user generated sites, and any kids related niche do very well with Kontera ads.
One of my website stats below (not tech related).
